19th World Conference of Social Work

19th World Conference of Social Work entitled “The Challenge of Ensuring Rights in a Global and Unequal Society,” will be held in Salavador, Bahia, Brazil from August 16 to 19, 2008. 

The conference, plenary sessions and paper presentations are structured around five major themes that address the main concerns of Social Workers and discuss the daily challenges and demands related to our profession:

  • Ethics and Human Rights: how to address the challenges of the 21st Century.
  • Challenges to the coexistence of a multiethnic world.
  • Theoretical-methodological inputs to understand the social being and intervene in the social reality.
  • Professional, ethical and political projects, and societal projects.
  • The international labor division, unemployment, poverty and self-sustainability of the planet.

It will be a unique opportunity to bring together experiences in which Social Workers from all over the world discuss and advocate on behalf of human rights, and of economic, political, and cultural democracy of an ethical, political and professional practice committed to the construction of a fair world based on solidarity.
The deadline for submission of abstracts was March 8, 2008.
